Sievi is a BSIF Registered Safety Suplier
What does it mean?
The British Safety Industry Federation (BSIF) is the Trade Association for the safety industry and acts as a leading voice for the sector. Set up in 1994 the Federation has some 400 members representing the complete supply chain including manufacturers, importers and distributors of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety products, through to test houses, certification bodies and specialist safety service providers.
BSIF work closely with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and Trading Standards. BSIF are the UK’s leading association for the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Regulation 2016/425 and provide guidance for PPE compliance, working closely with Regulators, actively across a range of Government departments.
What is the Registered Safety Supplier Scheme?
The BSIF Registered Safety Supplier scheme (RSSS) is designed to support the UK safety market. Companies displaying the scheme’s logo have signed a binding declaration that the safety equipment and services they offer meet the appropriate standards, fully comply to the PPE regulations and are correctly UKCA/CE marked.
The Mission of the scheme is to provide assurance to users that only compliant and correctly performing products are being supplied through a capable, educated, competent supply chain. The scheme provides a recognised route to enable a member to demonstrate compliance and due diligence – discharging the obligations of an economic operator under Regulation 2016/425 on PPE as amended and brought into UK Law.
Every year, BSIF sources one product from a Registered Safety Supplier member’s PPE or relevant related product offering. The product is then tested to ensure it meets with the requirements detailed in the relevant regulation. This process helps to prove that the products offered by Registered Safety Suppliers are compliant and offer the protection that they claim.
As a BSIF Registered Safety Supplier, Sievi undertakes to supply only safety equipment and/or related services that fully comply with the standards and regulations and claims made relating to those products and/or related services. Where appropriate, Sievi will maintain up to date technical files and associated documentation to ensure that regulatory compliance information can be supplied upon request.
Where products are sourced from external organisations which hold technical files relating to the products being offered, Sievi will request confirmation that these files are current, complete, contain appropriate conformity assessment information and, where relevant, regulatory compliance certificates and will take all necessary steps to confirm the validity of the compliance documentation held by that external supplier in respect of the products being sourced.
Where services are provided related to safety equipment sourced from external organisations, this company will maintain approval from the manufacturer that the services provided are assessed and approved by the external organisation.
