Calculation of the products' carbon footprint
Sievi is one of the first manufacturers of safety and occupational footwear to calculate carbon emissions per pair of shoes produced. So far, we have calculated the carbon footprint for a total of 36 products. These calculations allow us to choose more climate-friendly materials as they help us to understand and identify the significance of material choices in a product’s carbon footprint.
A product’s carbon footprint is most affected by the materials used in its production, with production itself (logistics, energy, waste) being another significant source of emissions. In addition, our carbon footprint calculations assess emissions from the end-of-life treatment of our products.
