SIEVIN JALKINE OY RECEIVES A MAJOR ORDER FROM THE SWEDISH ARMED FORCES

Following a competitive tendering process, Sievin Jalkine Oy has won a contract with the Swedish Armed Forces to supply footwear for combat personnel. The contract is for up to 212,240 pairs of footwear and its overall value is approximately EUR 17 million. The deal will generate approximately 100 person years of new employment.

2016 has got off to a favourable start for Sievin Jalkine Oy in other ways too. Sievin Jalkine Oy’s sales grew during the January–May period by approximately 20% compared to the previous year. The growth in sales is split evenly between domestic sales and export. According to CEO Juha Jokinen, the company has recruited a number of new employees over the course of the first half of the year, and recruitment is set to continue in both Sievi and Oulainen.

Sievin Jalkine Oy is the largest footwear manufacturer in northern Europe. The Sievi Group employs approximately 460 people. Exports account for approximately 50% of company's production. The Sievi group’s turnover in 2015 was EUR 85 million.
